Simple and to the point review. I loved it. I had the Margarita pizze and it was delicious. We stopped in at their coffee bar on the way out and picked up a couple coffees to go. No regrets.

Excellent food, wine, and homemade deserts. Go and you will not be disappointed. Our next visit will be on a Thursday night specifically for the gnocchi.

This was our third time visiting Bella Napoli. I keep trying to get excited about it, but I just can't. The wait on a weekend is definitely long. The waiting accommodations are just not there. The food is okay, decent Italian just not exceptional.

Combination of excellent, fresh quality, easing atmosphere, friendly services, and tasteful collaboration of ingredients and spices. Again, excellent and fresh ingredients at good price and quantity -- always wins an A+ in my book. Naturally relaxed, classy-casual atmosphere; an intimate place to bring a date. I made visits several times over the last year and would often spread the word of this gem to my pizza-loving friends. This has become the standard against which I compare authentic Italian pizza qualities.. closest representation I've come across! I have only tried one or two of each calzones and pizzas, but I anticipate returning to try the variety of other menu items!

Why on earth have I not been to Bella Napoli until now? Seriously, I am kicking myself for always putting it on the "eh, I'll try it another time" list for so long - that was a mistake! Granted, it's been awhile since I was in Italy, but Bella Napoli's pizza definitely is what I remember from when I was there. We tried two different pizzas last night (btw, they were both $5, the special for Monday nights, which is a screaming deal), the Diavola and the Capricciossa, and they were both delicious. So delicious, in fact, that I finished my pizza, even though it was quite sizeable and I probably shouldn't have eaten the whole thing. However, I have absolutely no regrets. A friend who joined us had the risotto, and she also loved her dish (and cleaned her plate). We ordered a carafe of the house red wine for the table (another thing I vividly remember doing in Italy), and while I have no idea what the wine was, it was very good and we definitely enjoyed it. Because of the terrible weather, we sat at a table inside overlooking the street, and it was perfectly nice, although I definitely could see myself enjoying an outdoor table. The restaurant was busy, but not packed, and our server was great - very friendly and welcoming, and quick to give recommendations when asked. You can tell that this is a family owned and operated business with a ton of regulars and servers who enjoy their jobs, which makes for a very nice dining experience. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, because there were several things I wanted to try. I also want to go back to try the pasta, to see if it's also what I remember from our time in Italy. If their pizzas are any kind of indication of the quality of the rest of the menu, I think I'm going to be very happy every time I eat there. I am most definitely a fan of Bella Napoli, and now I can't wait to go back!

The food is good, but the lack of organization and service makes this place hard to want to come back to. Today I sat on the patio for lunch and it was clear that the server who had the patio was slammed - lots of chaos. It took awhile to get my water. Food came out quick enough, but just watching the diners around me look around and sit waiting to be greeted was frustrating. One woman and her small child waited and waited to be greeted or brought drinks while another older female server bussed the table directly behind them and was texting on her phone.

Great sit-down dinners or a sandwich to go. For lunch, I like to get the Bella Napoli sandwich on baguette and have them add salami and prosciutto. I also always have to pick up a bag of European wafer cookies or Nutella cookies in their little store. Service is always great, and they move quickly. The dinners are great, I would say similar to Cupini's. Great lasagna, penne vodka pasta and pizzas. Great birthday dinner spot or a night out.

Oh my goodness, the sandiwiches. "Mmmmm mmmmm" were the only words uttered during the entire meal. I grabbed a quick lunch at Bella Napoli on their adorable patio one sunny afternoon. Be sure to try the number 3 sandwich. Each bite of fresh, soft mozzarella was better than the next. I have no one why I've never managed to come to Bella Napoli before. I'll defeintely be back again for that sandwich!

I have been here many, many times. Every time I take somebody new, they always rave about this place and they thank me for taking them. Where to start? The owners of this place are from Italy. The entire place has an old-world feel. Their baristas on the coffee side are trained to pull Italy-quality shots. Their coffee is of two varieties, imported from Italy or from Broadway Cafe. Either way, you win. The deli has groceries, meats and cheeses also imported from Italy. Their sandwiches are all amazing, I've tried them all. Il Saro is probably their most popular but you literally can't go wrong. On a nice spring day the line will be out the door for lunch, just fyi. Plan accordingly. The restaurant side offers great fare from their pizzas (half price on Monday nights) to their home made gnochi (special on Thursdays) to their soups, salads, pastas, cheese, etc. Go in the winter time (there's a front entrance and back entrance with good parking) for a cozy atmosphere or go in the spring/summer/fall and do yourself a favor and sit at their sidewalk tables. Open a bottle of Italian wine-- some of which I hadn't even heard of! Then finish the meal with home made tiramisu (made from a family recipe generations old) and an espresso. Trust me. You won't regret it.

My boyfriend and I tried Bella Napoli today for the first time and overall hated it. First off, it's fairly confusing when you walk through the door. Do you sit down? Do you go to the cash register and order first? It all ultimately has to do with the fact that the service is TERRIBLE. We went up and said we wanted meatball subs. The guy simply says okay you eating here? Oh okay. Have a seat. So I assumed they would come and ask us for drinks? No. My boyfriend and I were just about ready to walk out until one of the server guys finally asked us if we were waiting on something and if we wanted drinks. Then we were left unattended after we got our food for the duration of the time we were there. Maybe we just don't know how it works there? But it probably all could've been helped by decent service. So to the actual taste.... The meatball subs are bland and not memorable. I felt like what I was eating is essentially what cat food would taste like. The pasta could've been cooked more as well. SO OVERPRICED. We won't be going there again.

There's a lot to love about this quaint and charming place. Here's my list of things I loved: 1. Good value! Most items were under $10 and came with plenty of food. 2. Felt pretty damn authentic. They have arancini, pasta cooked to perfection, etc. 3. Half the staff were speaking Italian...that made it feel even more authentic. 4. The food was quite good, and especially for the price point. 5. Great neighborhood feel--owner was mingling and helping throughout the meal. 6. Specials! Half price pizza night, half price wine night...gotta love that! The only thing we were disappointed by was our waitress. She wasn't too attentive. Granted the place was super busy, BUT other staff were much more attentive than our gal. It was a total missed opportunity for both us and the waitress---we wanted to have wine with the meal (which would've increased the bill by $20); however, she never offered the the menu. I got the menu from another staff member, we decided on our wine, but she never really came back with enough pause for us to order it. Say la vie. I will definitely go back as it hits the spot in a convenient, charming, and budget friendly way---and if I lived in Brookside, I would go here often! [especially on Thursdays(wine night) and pizza night(monday?)]

Only reason why I'm not yet rating this a "5" is because I've only been there once. Rest assured, I'll be going back. Great Italian that isn't too heavy. That's key for me- love Italian flavors, don't like the brick in my gut that usually follows. The food here goes way beyond that. Outstanding. You won't be disappointed.

We go here weekly and love the food, service and atmosphere. Favorites include the meat canoli, tilapia, and calzone. They make you feel like family.

Just had a late lunch / early dinner recently at Bella Napoli and we were extremely pleased and very impressed! I had read about this place and wondered what the inside and ambiance would be like, because I heard it was partially a little grocery/market and partially a restaurant. Having now dined there, in the dining room, I can say my wife and I just loved the experience! There are indeed just a few table in the grocery/deli/market area but there is a legit dining room, and we were very comfortable dining there. The service was excellent (and I am so sorry I can't remember our server's name because he was really good, very pleasant, did a great job). And the food, well, it really wowed me. I'm not kidding. First of all, we loved the menu, it had great selections - pizzas (which looked really good, made fresh, great looking pizza oven), paninis, cold sandwiches, pastas, salads, and entrees. Lots to choose from. And a decent wine list. I really liked my Sangiovese (hello, this is not a fancy high-end restaurant, but yes they do offer Sangiovese, which not all the high end restaurants offer), and my wife liked her prosecco (and both were very reasonably priced). Now, we both had a pasta dish and we were both very pleased with our choices. I had the spaghetti carbonara and my wife had the tagliatelle bolognese, which looked appealing to her because the bolognese had a touch of cream, which lightened it up a little, and afterwards she said she really enjoyed it and it didn't fill her up like other bolognese dishes have. My carbonara was great, too, nice consistency (I don't like it runny, this sauce was just the right texture), very flavorful, little pieces of pancetta in it, just the right amount of cheese and cream. Anyway, we really enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely return. Oh and I forgot to mention, we ordered sandwiches to go and man oh man were they good. I got the mortadella/cappicola/salami/provolone combo, and it was absolutely delicious. And that BREAD it came on was just terrific, nice crusty fresh Italian bread. You got bad bread, I don't care what's inside your sandwich, it's not good if the bread isn't good. Also for dessert I ordered a cannoli, which I'd put up against any in this city (sorry, even including Osteria Il Centro, which I love). They made the filling fresh while we waited (enjoying our wine), and the filling was indeed great, not too sweet, but that SHELL was incredible, fresh and light but strong enough to hold the filling without getting soggy, just perfect. And it had pistachios in the filling too, little pieces of pistachio, which really added flavor. So all in all just a great place. Very impressed!

So gooood! We stopped in here after the Bookside parade last weekend and I'm so glad we did. The weather was perfect and the food was fantastic. The table ordered the caprese salad to start and two pizzas and an order of ravioli as entrees. Everything was delicious! I didn't get a chance to check out the deli since we sat outside, but I'm oh so excited to have found this gem in Brookside! We'll definitely be back!

What can I say, we visit here often and the number one thing I love about the restaurant is that the service and food is consistently above par! You can literally taste the authenticity. Oh and the tiramasu is slap yo mamma good.

Bella Napoli is the kind of neighborhood place that Kansas City needs. It's a great mix of good people, good food, and a nice big patio space to take in the Brookside neighborhood. I went on a Monday night where all of the pizzas are essentially half-off. There literally wasn't one pizza that I didn't want to try, they all sounded so good. I ended up with their special that had ricotta, sausage, and tomato sauce and it was delicious. It was very Italian, and by that I mean somewhat light and crispy crust and a nice blend of toppings without being over the top. I'll definitely be back here on a Monday night.

  • Gina M.

Bella Napoli is simply delicious. And it's the simplicity of the food that will bring you back for more. This deli/restaurant/grocery store excels at selling quality food. Their red sauce for their spaghetti is probably the best I've had in the city. I really appreciate how it's light and that there is no heaviness or frills to it. Just a simple tomato sauce on a bed of delicious pasta. In addition to the pasta, the pizzas and sandwiches are worth a try too. The staff is always friendly and service is pretty quick. I also like to get a pound of their salami and some Parmesan cheese for home . It's not unusual for me to finish the salami off in a day or two, it's pretty tasty! So whatever your Italian food needs are, whether it's a quick past fix, a sandwich on-the-go or some cold cuts for home, Bella Napoli has it and it's delcious.

A very authentic Italian restaurant where they make home-made pasta and sauces. I spent three days in Kansas City and went there three times. The food is superb and they have half price on the wine on Thursday and Wednesday's. The tiramisu' is home made and they also have other delicious cakes as desserts. Highly recommended!

This place is very small. We first sat down in an area (middle of the restaurant) that was not too bad and felt a bit roomy and comfortable. But ten minutes in we got asked to move so they could seat a larger table there. No big deal. They moved us to another section and I hated it - very cramped! The tables were basically touching and you got to "know your neighbor." As this place started to get busy, people were waiting to get seated next to us... I mean 15+ people were crowding into my area to the point they were almost sitting on my table. No joke. One women even bumped into our chairs and glared at me like it was my fault for being there. People waiting were literally glaring at people eating at their tables and mumbling under their breaths that they wished people would eat faster so they could sit down. It was very uncomfortable. Our server was new and said so, so I don't spite him for not being knowledgable about anything on the menu - but it made it more difficult for me as this was my first time here. The food was a bit pricey but it was decent. The salads and appetizers were pretty good but the pasta could be better. The steak was not bad either. Though I will not be back because of the atmosphere. If the food was outrageously good I would put up with anything, but it was only so-so, so to me it is not worth it.

My husband and I just moved back to the U.S. and we were so excited to try this pizza after reading reviews and seeing the pictures online. So today, we decided to go with a friend for lunch. While there were some great things about the place (mainly the coffee, tiramisu, and the friendly staff), we were all very disappointed with our pizzas. I'll admit that my husband and I do have high standards since we just moved back from Brazil, which has a huge Italian community and great wood oven pizza in general. But, we did do a ton of research and were excited for the wood oven, neapolitan style, and awesome pizza toppings. I ordered the # 6 Rughetta pizza with buffalo mozzarella, arugula, and prosciutto. I will say I loved my topping combination and the sauce was good, but the problem was in the crust and amount of actual toppings. The crust was really bad and not what I was expecting with wood-oven type of pizza - too thick and very chewy. There was also VERY little cheese on all our pizzas (not something I really minded), but both my husband and friend felt like it was really missing cheese. We all just felt like it was missing more toppings. The crust was just so thick and chewy, it didn't seem like a typical wood oven pizza. So would we go back again? Definitely not. I've debated between a 2 or 3 star and my husband insists on the two. Really, the only good things were the coffee, dessert, and nice workers. But, don't expect to have great service there....our server was really sweet, but I think there was only 2 servers and just wasn't enough for the lunch shift. Also, the price wasn't that great for the overall casual feel of the place and quality of the food. Overall, we were all pretty disappointed - especially considering how much we love pizza!!! And if you love iced tea (like I do!), it was honestly the weakest tea I've every had at a restaurant. That's probably why we got coffee too (yeah, caffeine was flowing today!). :) We're still on a mission to find our go to pizza place.....where to next? :)

BEST. ITALIAN. FOOD. IN KC. Seriously wow. Everything was impeccable here from the food to the service. A total mom + pop joint in the heart of Brookside. The pizza sauce is dreamy and I'm hoping I can somehow replicate it at home. So simple, yet so fresh and "italian". We had the margarita pizza, the eggplant panini and the mediterranean salad. Just amazed at how fresh and tasty everything was. Can't wait to go back and try other things on the menu. BRAVO.

I love bella Napoli ! Reasonable portion, prices, and wines. I never understand show they always "run out" of bread. I'm suspect. This happens often. Service can be stretched thin, I agree. Don't be in a hurry or demand VIP attention. Enjoy the pace and have some wine. Coffee in the morning is a delight - lots of "regulars." Best chocolate croissant in KCMO. The best. Almond is a runner up.

I don't get down to Brookside as much as I used to, but I was just down there this morning - met some friends at Bella - It is pretty much the same as always - but this morning they had a new cakey thing that I hadn't had before ... lemoney and very tasty. I don't know the name of it, but it looks like yellow cake and white icing - but it is delicious like red velvet cake is. I'm changing my rating to 5 stars because that cake was that good

Very delicious authentic Italian food. The staff was great very friendly. The food reminded me of Italy. They also have a little shop inside that sells all kinds of tasty goodies. The only downside is usually there is a wait but it is worth it for the quality of food you get. I'm from pittsburgh,PA and when I visit my family in KC this is one of the places I look forward to visiting

Charming little Italian restaurant in Brookside. Large menu, friendly people, good wine, and delicious food. I recommend sitting outside on the patio. Everything is worth trying, and the staff is warm and will give great suggestions.

Not a bad place to stop and grab some specialty grocery items such as: Italian cold cuts, wine, balsamic vinegar, anchovies, olive oil, capers, dry pasta, San Marzano tomatoes. They also have a small sandwich menu for lunch and a dinner menu. Friendly proprietor, personal service.

Absolutely love this authentic Italian restaurant. This may sound generic, but definitely recommend the ravioli. If it's warm outside, enjoy the outside seating (limited during summer hours, so get in early) with a bottle of wine. Customer service is a 6 on a 1-10 scale.

My wife and I met here on our first date so we return every year. Tonight we're meeting friends for half price pizza. I've been to Naples and I must say the pizza crust here is as authentic as it gets. The service can be laid back to the point of lazy (not rude ) but the food is worth it. They have a little Italian market inside with a wonderful olive bar.

It's with disappointment that I have to update my review on Bella Napoli! I am maintaining at least a 2 star because I LOVE the food but the service has been TERRIBLE the last two times visiting. On the last occasion the server didn't bring us any bread--I then asked for some and with displeasure he returned with bread. I asked the server what the special was (written on the board) and he said "I don't know I don't speak Italian"--I COULDN'T MAKE THIS UP! I said "Could you please ask someone because it looks interesting". We ordered the cheese risotto balls and when they arrived I said "we ordered cheese" and the server said "oh yeah...that's meat...oh well" and walked away!!! After we sat at the table for over 30 mins our entrees were delivered--COLD. I grabbed a different server and asked that it be warmed up...while my boyfriend ate his luke warm pizza. After eating we sat and sat while our server stood and talked with some friends eating at another table. I again grabbed a different server to bring our bill. I almost wondered if I was on the tv show "What would you do" because everything was done wrong...except for the great food once again (or I should say--once we got it). Maybe I will get my food to go next time...which is a bummer because I really like this place!

Bella Napoli is a small Italian-style alimentari -- part restaurant, part deli, part grocery, and all delightful. The character of the restaurant changes throughout the day. Early in the morning, it opens as a coffee shop, serving espressos and Italian coffees to folks on their way to work or to the regulars who stake out their usual tables and settle in to read the paper. At lunchtime, it becomes a sandwich shop, offering a variety of deli sandwiches made with savory Italian meats and cheeses, to eat in or take out. In the evening, the ristorante holds sway, serving a variety of antipasti, pizza and pasta in the charming dining room, or on the sidewalk patio if the weather allows. There's an extensive wine cellar, entirely composed of Italian imports, which naturally pair well with the food. The menu is a mixture of traditional Roman and Neapolitan dishes, including antipasti dishes such as arancini (rice balls,) perennial pasta favorites such as lasagna, and Neapolitan-style pizza. To finish, you can't go wrong with a sweet treat like the homemade tiramisu, which is rich & creamy, and plenty to share with a dining companion. Giorgio, one of the owners, told me that they opened the deli mostly for the chance to import hard-to-find Italian foodstuffs for their own culinary adventures; the restaurant followed as the business expanded. You can see this influence in the menu, which seems to consist entirely of family favorites. This is a guy who LOVES delicious food. (Giorgio, who came to the United States to play professional soccer and still coaches the game at a local school, laughed as he explained, "My life is about soccer, food, and wine. What else is there?" Indeed.)

Since my last review, I've made a real effort to break away from Bella Napoli's delicious deli offerings and explore the rest of the store a bit more. I'm not really a coffee fan, but I'm told by friends that the cafe here is excellent. I'll take their word for it, I suppose, but the real action is in the restaurant, as far as I'm concerned. I shamefully can't recall all the dishes I've had over the past few months, but all of them have ranged from very good to excellent with the short rib pasta standing out as my favorite. The red wine sauce, tender beef, and hint of sharp Italian cheeses marry wonderfully. I also distinctly recall the eggplant parm being exceptional. They cook the eggplant to the perfect level of tenderness and cover it in just the right amount of marinara and cheese. Delicious. Stop by on Tuesdays or Wednesdays to enjoy a half-price bottle of wine (or three) with your dinner. As I mentioned before, one of my favorite aspects of Bella Napoli is its connection with the neighborhood and customers. During one of my previous visits, a family came in with an Italian exchange student. She was evidently homesick and began crying after a few minutes in the store saying "It's just like home!" repeatedly. The owner came by and sat with her for some time, chatting in Italian. He got up and returned later with a plate of food and a small stack of groceries for the girl. You just can't get a personal touch like that in very many places at all. Put another way, Bella Napoli is a shining example of why Brookside is an amazing place to live, shop, and eat. It has definitely earned a spot as one of my favorite all-around locales in the city. If you haven't been here yet, do yourself a huge favor and drop in as soon as possible. It's that good.

I wanted to love this place after all....who wouldn't with all of the wonderful Yelp reviews. I want to make it clear that this review is only about the service since we left before ordering. When I first walked in the lady at the deli counter looked at me and began to scream hi to the people already seated. So I just stood there thinking it was an oversight. Then she started screaming hello to another table full of people (I am really hoping that she knows these people personally otherwise I believe psychiatric help may be in order here). At this point the cook behind the counter had even noticed how rude this was because he actually came from the back kitchen and seated me. It is my opinion that anytime a cook from the back has to stop the line and put his/her orders on hold to seat a customer there is a major, major problem. Once seated the server came by and dropped (when I say dropped I mean literally dropped) the menu at the table and walked off. First off it was not just me as I was meeting others for a business lunch so it would have been really nice if the server A) greeted me B) asked how many was in my party C) at least pretended that she cared about customer service. Needless to say that I called my associates and moved the lunch to another place in Brookside. The one star is for the smell! The food smelled wonderful and I am sure that it probably is. I will never know but hey you can't miss something that you've never had right!? LOL!!

The perfect Italian experience. Had a little deli/ great coffee/ fresh subs/ pizza and pasta. The service is great, you can get to know all the staff. Top 5 places in KC.

This is my favorite restaurant in KC. The food is extremely authentic and delicious. I have never been disappointed. When ever I have family in town this is the place I take them. The little grocery store has some nice items too. Give this place a try, I can't imagine anyone being dissapointed.

We had a wonderful dinner here and look forward to returning soon. The funghi pizza and grilled asparagus were hits at the table. Our server was knowledgable and warm, and we felt very much at home.

Quaint little gem in the neighborhood. Delicious fresh pasta dishes and apps! Can't wait to be more of a regular from getting coffees to deli sandwiches for lunch and decadent pasta dinners!

It looked like the food was lovingly prepared and plated, but it was really bland. Both my wife and I were disappointed. Bland and overly expensive for what we got. We were looking forward to trying something different. But, honestly, and I'm not a big chain fan, but honestly, the food at the Olive Garden tastes better and is a better value. I've only been here once, so maybe we ordered the wrong things, but I wasn't impressed and I won't go back.

Bella Napoli lives up to its name ! The food is nothing short of incredible. If you close your eyes you will think you are in Italy.

THANK YOU! I moved back from New York two years ago and when people ask what I miss the most I always tell them "Bagels and Italian Food." Well guys, I just found my Italian food. Glory be! Here are my requirements for good Italian: Fresh Ingredients, simple dishes, homemade pasta. If you would like a really thick rich sauce over stuffed pasta with 8 types of sausage and/or shellfish, go to the Olive Garden. Bella Napoli had such fresh, simple, delicious food. I was incredibily impressed by their pasta carbonara - saucy and very generous with the pancetta. My beau had the braised shortrib with farfalle that was outstanding! I also had their house salad which was fresh and featured a very simple basalmic vinegarette. YUM! I want to go back right now. Besides the fantastic food, the best part of this place is the setting. It is not pretentious. It doesn't have white linens, servers pretending to be out of The Godfather, and Sinatra playing in the background. It's casual, the wine is modestly priced, and it's very inviting. You can go on a date here, not break the bank and have a great time. I can't wait to go back during lunch for an Italian Sub!!! I love you Bella Napoli, thank you for being in KC!

I went to this place in September. The special of the day was a fried eggplant sandwich. Only because it was the special of the day did I order it, because I am typically not a fan of eggplant. This was THE BEST fried eggplant I have ever had. It was a little on the greasy side, but it changed my opinion about this purple vegetable for good. I was there with a colleague during the lunch hour. While it was crowded for noontime, it wasn't over the top busy or noisy. Also, given its location, there were local/older people and families there to break up the business class feel. The price is comparable with other places if similar menus and location, but I personally feel that the market is just a smudge on the high side. Otherwise, brilliant. I have recommended this place ever since.

If you want authentic Italian food served in an authentic Italian deli then Bella Napoli is the place to head, pronto! We are new to the area, and I have already been here twice for lunch, and have been beyond impressed, both times. If you catch it on a nice day, they have outdoor seating available. There is also a cool coffee bar in the deli/store area that offers a variety of fabulous coffee/espresso options. The staff is so friendly and seems to know everyone that comes through the doors. You have the option of ordering at the deli counter, or having full service in the restaurant, which is a small, but very comfortable setting. We opted for full service both visits. Our first time in we went for sandwiches; come hungry if you order a sandwich, they are huge and come with a side of pasta. I had the chicken parmigiana and my husband had a panini, both meals were deliciouso; and the serving sizes, well let's just say I needed a nap after eating the whole thing! On our next visit we went for the lighter side and split a salad and pizza. Another winning combo, they've got the pizza thing perfected - thin and crispy and fresh toppings. This time around we had enough room left for an espresso, what a treat in itself.

This is the place to go for a delicious pizza! I think they cook it in a wood burning oven. The toppings are simply prepared but the quality of them is amazing! I love the Blue Grotto, but I think Bella has better pizza! I also love the atmosphere, it's cozy and casual. I am more inclined to come here because I know I won't have to dress up lol.

Ummm... YUM!!! Proof great things CAN come in suttle packages. It is not flashy, but when I sat down for a pizza I was impressed. The food is top notch quality both in the restaurant and the grocery store.

A wonderful treasure in Brookside. I'm only going to do one review here, because Bella Napoli is really the same thing as "La Cucina di Mamma." It's all one structure. There is a coffee shop, next to a small Italian market with tables, with a small separate dining area, and a patio for non-windy, not crappy-weather days. It's right next to the Roasterie Cafe. What will you find here? 1. Huge delicious Italian panini, usually made or handed to you by people who speak Italian. 2. Real "contorni" (side dishes) like roasted eggplant, to complement your sandwich or pasta. 3. The best cannoli south of the River. Yeah, I said that. Go. Now.

I cannot wait to visit this place again. They had great service and their sandwiches were both the picture of freshness and deliciousness. Every ingredient in the sandwich I had was high quality and tasted like was eating at a side road stand ran by a farmer. I am not exagerating either, you really have to try this place and see what fresh ingredients do once they hit your palate.

For those of you who give this place bad reviews....get over yourself. This place is a simple cafe/deli/coffee shop that serves fresh pasta, delicious deli sandwiches and great coffee. This place has (and is SUPPOSE to have) a small european cafe feel to it. I've read some reviews complaining about spotty service. I've never had bad service here. Is your waitress slammed tending to other customers? Tell another member of the staff what you need and they'll be happy to get it for you. Matter of fact they cheerfully bring a bowl of water to my dog when we're sitting outside on a warm day. If you have a complaint voice it to the owner....in Italian (he's from Italy and speaks it fluently). Or better yet, if you don't like this place just stay away. I don't want your attitude to ruin the family like atmosphere. *No, I don't work here. I don't personally know the owner or any of the staff. It just gripes my a** that people want to be critical of a well run locally owned establishment just because their water glass sits half empty for more than 30 seconds.

"Where snotty entitled Kansas Citians go to show the world they exercise." Did I just say that? Sorry, temporary Tourette's. I know I sound like a h8r, but sometimes you just have to say what is in your heart. The sandwich I had, Il Parmo, was delicious, although the bread was more New York- style than Italian. I mean, I know they are doing quality stuff there, with great ingredients, and everybody knows it, but can't a guy root for the underdog sometimes? Anybody have any good leads on Somalian restaurants up in Northeast KC?

I want to like this place. I live in Brookside, it's a locally owned place and it always seems busy. I've been twice and I just don't get it. (This review is just for the restaurant, as I do like the market and the coffee shop.) The food is just ok, which isn't great with the high price that you pay. The atmosphere is really nothing special. The service was kinda poor. Not personable, not informative, not friendly. No one said "thanks for coming in" or "see you next time" so I guess there will not be a next time for this neighborhood guy.

My new favorite Italian place in KC! The Spaghetti alle vongole was simple but delicious! Prices are pretty reasonable too. I'll be back soon to try more and to shop around for some pasta. :)

We dropped in after attending the Brookside Art Festival. Even though the area was really crowded we were able to get a seat. Our server, Elizabeth, was great. The food was very authentic-just like my Nane used to make. I love the casual, family atmosphere. There were children running around playing-not wildly but happily. I'm sure that would drive some people crazy but, coming from a large Sicilian family, it just felt like home to me. LOVED the risotto balls and the mozzarella salad. The mozzarella was very fresh & tasty. Try the Italian beer-it's delish! I would definitely go back when I'm in Brookside and would not hesitate to bring grandkids!

This is one of the best places to eat in the city. If you are impatient do not bother because on a weekend night you're going to wait longer than they tell you to sit down and your food will take a while... But good things are worth the wait! This restaurant is the closest thing we have to an NYC dinning experience in KC! Love, love, love! The basta is incredible... Which one? So far, all of them!

The Bella Napoli is a fantastic Italian deli that has great products. Parking can be a problem during the lunch hour, but it is well worth visiting. (Warning: you may never be able to go back to the grocery-brand pasta again) Whether you're ordering a delicious panini, sampling the wonderful olive bar, purchasing staples for cooking at home or sitting down for a great lunch, this Brookside locale is sure to please. Attached to the deli are a coffee shop and a restaurant (La Cucina di Mamma). The staff is fantastic, and you can order from the full menu, the deli, the coffee shop or whatever, and they'll happily accommodate you. The store, restaurant and coffee bar are all very clean and friendly. If you have any questions, there is always someone able to provide advice and information.

We went to this place for dinner and it was delicious! We got a homemade sausage, mozzarella, and tomato pizza and it was so good! After the pizza we got Gelatos that were delicious! The service is really nice. They had Italian coffee, cheeses, sausages, meats, candies , and pasta for sale in the store! They had a giant selection of pastas and all things Italian for sale! They have outdoor seating. The deli is so cool!

We went here last night for dinner. Being new to the area- we of course, checked yelp, and the reviews were pretty decent, so we decided to give it a go! Monday night is $5 pizza night (although some pizzas are $6, but our waitress didn't explain that until we received our bill- but not a big deal). The reason for the low rating: 1) Service: our waitress did not seem like she wanted to be there and looked appalled when I asked for a straw for my drink. She asked if wanted bread - at an Italian place? Yes, please! It was 3 slices if a small baguette in a basket served cold. What? 2) Food: we ordered 2 wood fired pizzas, which sounded amazing on the menu - they were awful. The crust was drenched in tomato sauce making it soggy- the crust was the only crispy part of the wood fired pizza. We were there around 5- not peak dinner time so there's no real excuse for our servers lack of attention/ the place wasn't super busy yet. This place has a lot of potential to be great- but we won't be back- there are better places to spend our money.

Fantastico! 1/2 price bottles of wine on tuesdays. We had the bruschetta, yum, house salads and shared the penne siciliana. I could have licked the plate. Kliti was our server, ask for him. Really couldn't be better!

I'm conflicted because so many people have said so many great things, but I only had a mediocre experience here. The food was bland and didn't really entice me to visit again. I had the ravioli and it just was flavorless and a bit dry. The gourmet market was very nice, though. Very reminiscent of European delis. K and I felt a little out of place as it seemed the people streaming in were "regulars." They seem to be treated like rockstars---the owner giving a hearty "hello!" and pouring wine, so maybe that's when the experience changes. It was very family-oriented which I really enjoyed, but with that means a lot of the servers standing around talking while the water in my glass was dwindling. I'm hoping to visit again and maybe edit this post, but for now this is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Ma-ma-mia! It's a bella vita when you're at Bella Napoli. This Italian, family owned cafe takes you right to the heart of a small Italian village. On a Saturday morning, guests enjoy their cappuccino on the patio while conversing with friendly fellow Brooksider's. You'll also find down home Italian dishes on a simple yet satisfying menu. Try the meatball panini, or as my server called it, "meat-a-ball-o pani-no". The menu was one star short of four because of it's lack of sides to go along with the panini's and cold sandwiches. The mediocre pasta dish that accompanies the panini just didn't cut it. If you choose to sit inside you'll sit amongst traditional Italian grocery items. The market gives you a chance to pick up specialty foods in a European inspired interior. The store offers a full deli window just in case you want to pick up your own meat and make a DIY sandwich. The family-owned atmosphere and community camaraderie is what makes this Brookside business earn it's right to an A-OK from me.

This is a combination everything... high-end grocery, cafe, deli, restaurant. The grocery is Dean and Deluca pricey...but it's all good stuff, folks. The cafe is simple and reasonable... no worries there. All four of their baristas do a great job. The deli is this review... and all of those wannabee sandie shops should take notes. Slice the meats/cheeses fresh like they do here. Use a good bread like they do here. Offer interesting options (not 100 options, but two or three interesting ones). Here it is regular or spicy. That refers to the seasoning of the pickled celery and mild peppers they use on the sandwich. They also use a nice balsalmic vinegar. That is really about it. My sandie (#1 on the menu board) did not need 138 tubs of ingredients and 17 squeeze bottles of sauce to be delicious. : ) And if you want a real veggie sandie, ask for the #8 not on the menu board. You'll thank me later.

We love this restaurant! I always feel like I'm revisiting Italy when I come here. The pizzas are just as good as what we had in Italy and the bolognese is the best I've had anywhere. The atmosphere isn't fancy, but the amazing food will make you forget you're essentially sitting in a grocery store.

This is a full-on mini-grocery and deli, with a little restaurant right inside. SO up my alley. I'm throwing in a second star for the grocery/deli part since it's probably a neighborhood gem in that regard and for the kind people who work here. Also we came here because we needed to drop in to a place with little or no wait on a Saturday night with no reservations. So that was nice. My bf and parents were able to have a nice, relaxed, quiet, unrushed conversation...(well, until the bee-atch who came in and sat at the next table with a loud, constantly ringing cell phone rudely interrupted--hello? manners, anyone?). But the food? Oh the food was so bad. I think my stepdad enjoyed his roasted half-chicken. My mom had some kind of meaty thing that she found underwhelming. I had the risotto, and it was an insult to risotto. The main thing was that it wasn't made with arborio rice. How can you make risotto and not use arborio rice? Especially if you are an Italian place? WHAT?! So it didn't take on that creamy, cheesy, amazing quality that only well-done arborio rice dishes are going to. What a waste. And so salty. They should have just called it "salt rice." My bf had some kind of ziti/penne-looking thing with tubes and a basic marinara. Marinara lacked flavor; pasta's just dried pasta, nothing special. For $12 or whatever it was--come on, make the pasta fresh in house! Or charge less. So, diners with sophisticated palates, foodies, Italophiles: steer clear! But Brooksiders still have an adorable lil area deli.

Greeat caprese sandwich! The crusty bread that hurts the roof of your mouth! Yum. It is a cute little cafe/sandwich/grocery store/deli type place. We only had sandwiches but I want to go back for cappuccinos and one of the giant tiramasu that I saw...

Refreshingly fresh! Saturday left few tables to get situated in among the store items and slow service, but the minestrone soup and fabulous (lightly grilled) bread was worth the wait. Peculiar little place with little Italy style pizza, pasta and soups. Coffee bar and fresh meats, breads and cheese to take home from a grocery store style setting.

HURRAY!!! I have finally found a delightful Italian restaurant in KC! Thank you, Bella Napoli! I am not much of a fan of dining out Italian style. I find a good Italian dish is very easy to recreate in my own kitchen. But I am very excited to have found a place with a quaint, local, family feel and menu items that are simple and refined, yet packed with flavor! I can't create food this perfect or provide this authentic atmosphere in my own home! You must try Bella Napoli! Be sure to call for a reservation on a Friday or Saturday night and opt for outdoor seating if the weather is nice. Yum, yum, yum!!! Oh, and PS - the deli is also very yummy. They serve up delicious sandwiches and sell Italian cold cuts, cheeses and specialty grocery items that you won't find anywhere else. Enjoy!

A nice little Italian deli/grocery 2 blocks from the aforementioned tapa place that didn't want to serve us. I LOVE the Napolitano sandwich-just mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and balsamic on crusty bread, but it's wonderful! My friend got a meatball panini with a side of pasta that she really liked. The prices and portions are very reasonable-allowing enough money and tummy room for dessert, or a stop at Glace on the way home (which we did!)

In the back of an Italian Deli, so very cool already. Great pizza, I had the special, Artichokes and Pancetta. The appetizers were awesome! Grilled Eggplant, roasted red peppers, spinach, all in olive oil and spices with bread. My daughter (3 yrs) got the basic spaghetti, huge portion, and good basic sauce. All reasonable priced too, family friendly.

What a pleasant surprise, quaint little neighborhood place with really good food. Great vibe, when you walk up, the sidewalk and outdoor seating is bustling, feels very big city urban. Inside lots of activity and great smells coming from the open kitchen. I had a pasta dish with a short-rib ragu, very good. Al dente pasta, nicely sauced and good depth of flavor on the ragu. Someone knows what they are doing in the kitchen. Would have paid twice what the charged and felt good about it. Bruschetta to start, nice rustic presentation and taste, ice cold Pellegrino and extensive vino list of all very moderately priced wines. Friendly but very casual service, owner's engaged in the business and present, very affordable. I will be back. Bring a large group, stay a while and eat a lot.

I'm pretty certain they spike thier "Siciliano" sandwich with some illicit & highly addictive substance. Seriously, the sandwiches here are amazing. Pair with a pellegrino arranciata (italian orange soda) and you are living the high life. This is a fantastic spot for a quick lunch in Brookside. Or if you're in no hurry, order your italian espresso drink of choice and spend some time at one of the outdoor cafe tables. And either before or after lunch, be sure to browse around in the food market part of the shop, which has all kinds of fun imported Italian edibles. And by the way, if you end up totally addicted to their sandwiches like I am, ask for a punch card: after you buy 9, you get the next one free. I brought my whole family here for lunch when they were in town... Then it was free sandwich time for me!

We moved to Kansas City 4 months ago and have been sifting through the disappointing recommedations of Garozzo's and the likes to find a real Italian restaurant. We found it. A deli and coffee shop by day and family style restaurant by night, Bella Napoli knows there stuff. You know you have it right when you can hear the sound of Italian language from guests and workers alike resonating through the place. They keep it simple, and present classic Italian dishes such as Pasta Bolognese, Pasta Carbonara, Braesola, and a large selection of Napoli style wood fired pizzas that will bring your mind right back to an Italian streetside ristorante. Perfect for a casual or nice night out, kids or no kids. We will be back!

After seeing Bella Napoli on Check Please KC the other night, I thought I would try it for the third time. It had been awhile since my last visit and I had hoped that things had improved. They hadn't. I admit it, I don't get the appeal of this place. I feel I'm in the minority with this view, but I feel the food is ok, the service is horrible and the atmosphere is severely lacking. The only saving grace about this place is it is attached to a good Italian grocery store. That is the only plus about Bella Napoli.

I will speak from the heart and say that Bella Napoli holds a huge place in my heart. I'm a bit biased because it was my first real job, working behind the counter and at the register for many years, but also the people that put in the hard work to make bella napoli what it is today. Panini. Say what you like, but bella napoli has always been the sandwich I crave. The Siciliano is like crack..and the secret to making it so delicious is something I will not tell, but is so simple. That is what makes it the best. Jake and the gang are always willing to help you find what you need or give a little inspiration for dinner that night. Coffee is perfect, danesi espresso is something you will not find here in the states very often, so treasure it.

I'm never unhappy when I'm done eating here. The italian cold cuts are sliced fresh for each sandwich, the sandwiches are ALL fantastic, and the menu is really authentic and inspired. All my expectations for the rich, high-quality flavors of Italian food are met with their sandwiches. There are sweet fried peppers, good olive oil and balsamic vinegar, spicy peppers, capicola, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, you understand. I'm always amazed at how quickly I finish their sandwiches because they always look huge. It's nice that they not only have a market inside where you can buy the things they serve, but also that they have little chocolates and things to finish your meal off. They also serve wine and coffee. The location is great, and when it's sunny out, they have a lot of outside seating to appreciate Brookside. Yep, 5 stars.

I can't see how this place could ever get any more than 3 stars. There must be some kind of collusion involved. The dining room (as it were) and employees are dirty, not "adorable" by any stretch of the imagination and the service is about as horrible as it gets. The manager was actually wearing slovenly sweat pants the last time I was in there (and I mean the kind w/the elastic around the waist AND the ankles). The food is marginal, if anything. I mean how many different menu items can be crafted from white flour, cheese and tomato sauce? Please.

These are the best kind of Italian sandwiches. A small portion of highly seasoned meat, some fresh cheese, olive oil, maybe some roasted peppers or giardinera. Contrary to popular belief an Italian sub should not be piled high with three inches of salami (joke? anyone?), much less ham or mustard or *gag* mayonnaise. Bella Napoli does a nice job with the sandwiches, these fresh mozzarella is perfect, the olive oil is good, and the meats are high quality. I enjoyed a sub with prosciutto, fresh mozz, roasted red peppers and fresh basil. My only quibble is the bread, which lacks the definitive crust that I've come to expect from good Italians. Italian bread should hurt the roof of your mouth a little when you bite into it. The bread at Cupini's is better, but their sandwiches--while also good--are a tad less authentic than Bella Napoli. You don't really need side dishes with your sandwich, but chips are available. Drinks can be procured at the register. Sandwiches cost between 6 and 7 dollars so you'll get out for less than 10 bucks all told. As for seating there are half a dozen tables scattered throughout the place and a few outside. In terms of a quick lunch, I'm not sure you can do much better in Brookside than Bella Napoli.

I stopped in for lunch at this place a few years ago, and it was delicious. Fresh Italian-style meats and fresh mozzarella make a tasty sandwich. I would definitely recommend that you try it out at lunch time. Dinner, however, is a different story. I was not impressed with my own or my husband's meal. I ordered a pizza of some sort--sausage, onions, etc--and I was notably underwhelmed by its lack of flavor. I expected something slightly more European (thin crust, very light sauce, more flavor of olive oil and garlic, fresh cheeses) and slightly less Papa John's (dough and processed toppings). Not that I don't like Americanized pizza--I do for sure. I just expected something more authentic from Bella Nopoli. My husband's meal was an even bigger disappointment. He ordered a salad with an orange vinaigrette and prosciutto. Although it was decent, I wouldn't describe it as something to rush to try. In addition, it should have cost around $5 instead of $10. It was so small that, even after helping me eat my pizza, he had to eat something else afterward. On the positive side, our server was good. And we really enjoyed the weather, sitting outside in the patio area.

Come for a coffee, stay for lunch and dinner. This place has it all. Danesi espresso drinks, great sandwich deals from the deli and an awesome dinner menu. When the weather's good, sit outside to get a real, down-home, neighborhood feeling. This is Brookside. Plain and simple; home-grown talent!

Love this place! When ever I am in the mood to make some wonderful Italian dishes - I dash over to their deli section to get our favorites that we miss from our Chicago days! Plus they have a wonderful diner area! Great food - decent prices!!

The first time we went here I think we had a better experience. My husband got an italian sausage, mushroom pasta in a cream sauce and my son and I split the half roasted chicken. We also got the risotto balls and tiramisu. The pasta was pretty good as was the chicken, although it was really greasy. The tiramisu, I didn't care for (yes....I like coffee and normally tiramisu) but my husband and son loved it. The cappuccino was excellent. Second visit.....waitress seemed annoyed she had to wait on us. Stayed that way pretty much the entire meal. Doesn't make for a great dining experience. Got a pizza and bruschetta and the lemon torte. Pizza and bruschetta just ok. Lemon torte not great at all. No real lemon flavor. Tasted bland. I want that lemon punch and this tasted as if it had lemon artificial flavoring (not much even of that). Very disappointed. Coffee was great again though. Don't know if I would go back. When I go out, I want food as good or better than I can make at home. This one is questionable. My trips to Garozzos have been a better experience.

So I need to go back to Bella Napoli and try more things, and I realize that. I'm also incredibly excited that I now know (a month from moving) where I can get good Italian tuna and meats and the like. I like that there might be a couple of good sandwiches in my future. But for dinner, it's not the most exciting thing I've tasted lately. Admittedly, I ordered something for which I now have a very high standard. After having the spaghetti with Italian tuna at 715 in Lawrence, I actually expect quite a bit from a simple pasta and tuna dish. I mostly expect it to be better than what I can create myself. And this was good, but certainly no part of 715's, and slightly oilier than I would produce myself. The pasta was excellent and perfectly prepared, and I have a girlhood crush that still holds on for farfalle. The tomatoes were fresh and a nice addition, but overall it just wasn't terribly exciting. My evening's company had their gnocchi special with walnuts and it was similarly good but not amazing. The portions are sizable though, and since you get two meals in one, it's pretty affordable. The atmosphere is charmingly simple, and even though the food wasn't awe-inspiring, I do want to go back to try one of the much-lauded sandwiches.

I don't know if the regular cook had the day off or what, but man the pizza I had there sucked. The atmosphere is not so 'adorable' either...cheesy if you ask me. I'm an urban snob anyway...I'll stick to Pizza Bella!

An adorable Italian grocery and restaurant in Brookside, Bella Napoli has delicious food and a pleasant atmosphere. We had a delicious Friday dinner here, our server was pleasant and the small restaurant part of the shop was comfortable and unpretentious. My pasta was cooked well and the pesto not too oily, and my husband's lasagne was delicious, especially the bechamel. The portions were filling, but not oversized, which I appreciate. They had a good selection of inexpensive wine, and the flatbread that they brought as an appetizer was fantastic. If the prices were just a little cheaper I'd give it 5 stars, but overall I felt that the restaurant was a great find that I'd happily return to. The Italian grocery and deli that is connected to the restaurant had lots of hard to find imports and specialty foods.

My wife and I dropped in for lunch after not finding a bistro we were actually looking for and fell in love with our accidental find. A shared caprese salad and pizza convinced us to bring our adult children here for dinner the next night. Everyone ordered met our expectations and we loved the atmosphere and staff. Bella Napoli and its co-joined La Cucina de Mama are not permanently on our list of dining bistros to enjoy even if only for an espresso and cannoli.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
